Lodging: We have secured two large beautiful gingerbread type houses, the rooms are going fast! They are $350 for the entire stay, and we can accommodate (generally) a family in a room. This will also include some continental breakfast type food, maybe, if I don't take too much of a beating on the houses.
The Saturday
cookout will be $10 per adult and $5per child 14 and under. If you can’t
stand the thought of co-habitating for the weekend
possibly with some very loud snorers or people on a different sleep schedule
than you, we have arranged a Wheelman rate with the Pequot Hotel and the cost
works out about the same as the house. You may contact them directly at:

If
you need help getting to the rental house, please call our cell phones.
We will be happy to come down to the ferry to pick you and your luggage/bikes
up. I’m not sure we can pick up bikes, we will have our Suburban.
It is only a few blocks to walk. Please see the enclosed map for the
walking directions. (When you get off the ferry,
start walking straight ahead and up the hill – this street is Seaview Avenue. You will see water on your left and
Ocean Park (gazebo park) on your right. Narraganset Avenue is the second right after the
park. If you are staying at the Pequot Hotel, you will walk one more
block and turn onto Pequot Avenue. The Hotel will be just ahead on your
right.
If
staying in the house, the only additional items that you will need to bring are
your own towel(s). Blankets, comforters & pillows are provided for us
at the house. You will need to bring your own
bed linens also. Bring sleeping bags & pillows for kids.
Getting
There:
Whichever
ferry you choose, please try to get to !!OAK
BLUFFS!! and make sure their RETURN
schedule fits your schedule. Leave your car in Falmouth or Woods Hole or
wherever you take the ferry from.
You can
take the ferry to Vineyard Haven in a pinch, but Oak Bluffs is a much better
choice. We have to pick you up if you come to VH. Oak Bluff
is within walking distance of the houses.
Steamship
Authority Wood’s Hole
www.islandferry.com
(passengers & vehicles: Adult roundtrip is $14.00, Children ages 5 – 12 are $7.50 and children under 5 are free. Bikes are $6.00.
Island Queen Falmouth www.islandqueen.com
The Island
Queen Ferry runs on a limited schedule also and I think it is easier and more
convenient than the steamship BUT make sure the schedule fits the
times you want to come and go. It is easier to park for the Island
Queen, but the schedule is much more limited.
For the
people coming in from the south, you may want to consider these two ferries
below, more expensive but I think it will save two to three hours of
driving. 60 bucks roundtrip vs 15 from Falmouth
or Wood’s Hole.

(This
website is full of great links for happenings around the island, great
restaurants, bike routes, beach info, etc.)
Transportation
around the island: There
is no need to bring a vehicle to the island. Please
don’t, we don’t have parking spaces. We will be bringing our truck so
that we have a vehicle on the island. (Parking on the island is very
limited. The house we are renting only has 2 spots – Please let us know
ASAP if you will be planning on bringing a vehicle!)
Getting around the island is easy by bus and inexpensive! The cost to hop from village to village is $2.00/village. An all day pass is $6.00 that will able you to go anywhere on the island for the entire day – no limit on the amount of times you get off and on the bus. The link listed can give you a better idea of the bus schedule to the different towns/villages: www.vineyardtransit.com
We look forward to seeing you in September!
