During the summer 2002, Eric became the new drummer for the band "The Illuminati." The group played a unique blend of heavy metal, punk, hardcore funk, jazz and blues music. The band was made up and founded by Erik Anderson and Pete Johnson. Both are veterans of the Midwestern music scene. Both were members of the popular thrash band "Prodigal Son" in the early/mid 1990's and later in the alternative/acid metal band "Cult of One" in the late-1990's.

At the time of Eric joining the band, the band itself was still trying to establish a solid line up. Past and brief members of the group included Dave Bitton on guitar and Mike Loomis on vocals.

In January 2003, the band released it's debut album entitled "Diving Into The Shallow End Of The Gene Pool" and in February 2004, the band released it's follow up album entitled "En Flagrante Delecto."  The band hit the road for 2 years and played every major venue in Wisconsin and the surrounding areas. Word began to spread throughout about the band's intense live shows and their legendary drinking abilities, thus the band grew itself a loyal underground cult following.
