“Edible Wild Plants of New England”

Naturalist, John Root, of Amherst, Massachusetts will present “Edible Wild Plants of New England”. Learn to identify native plants that can be used in your food and beverages. Mr. Root’s program will feature our most common and appealing plants with samples available to examine and taste. You will recognize many of these plants in your own yard.
John Root presents programs about edible wild plants and mushrooms throughout New England. He has studied botany at the graduate level and has taught Junior High School science.

“Holiday Dinner Party”
Time: 6:30 PM
Location: VFW Post (Next to the Pepperell Post Office on Rt 113 in East Pepperell)
Share the spirit of the season and enjoy a lovely meal together. Please bring a gift to swap ($15 value gardening related present). If you would like, bring a homemade item for a chance to win the goody basket raffle.

January 13
“Breads, Books and Browsings”
Members will discuss favorite gardening books and exchange interesting information, poems and inspirations. Bake a quick bread to share and bring it with your recipe to the meeting.
February 10
“The Victorian Art of Pressing Flowers” Workshop
Local botanical artist, Pauline Bergassi, will discuss and demonstrate the art of flower pressing. Ms. Bergassi has demonstrated her art at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. She will also lead members in creating a pressed floral / fern note card to take home. Note cards, envelope, vellum overlay and glue will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring small pressed plants, however some will be available for purchase. There is no additional fee for the craft.


If possible it would be nice for folks to press small flowers and leaves to bring to our February meeting to create a pressed flower note. If they can’t press any flowers though, not to worry, our presenter will have some pressed plants on hand for our use.
March 10
“Flowers for Everyday Enjoyment”
Joyce Bellefeuille is the owner and principal designer at Belle Feuille Floral Design. With a passion for people and flowers, Joyce brings over 25 years of experience working with both fresh and permanent floral materials. She is a graduate of Rittner’s School of Floral Design in Boston.
Joyce will demonstrate beautiful floral arrangements using unique containers from our homes. She will add touches of whimsy using twigs, wire and wicker to create memorable, easy to make bouquets to bring home.
April 14
“30 Plants that Pay the Rent”
Professional landscape designer, Adriana O'Sullivan, will present "30 Plants that Pay the Rent”. She describes her program as one "that gives you many ideas to use in your own garden. The plants featured are some of the easiest to grow in our area. They are drought-
tolerant, low-maintenance, and offer at least two or three seasons of interest. Learn how to create more beauty in your garden by making combinations that seem to extend the blooming season, and discover some new cultivars to introduce in your garden."
She will also suggest alternative perennials, shrubs and trees to substitute for identified invasive species in Massachusetts.
May 12
“Summer Patio Container Workshop”
Our own PGC members/garden experts will illustrate effective design principles that will produce a stunning planter for your home use. Summer will be upon us soon and we will make a beautiful patio container. Bring your garden gloves, trowel and ideas for your colorful planting.
There will also be a short business meeting to discuss the plant sale.
May 15
“Annual Plant Sale”
Time: 8 AM -12 PM
Location: Lawrence Library, Main St.. Pepperell
All members on board as proceeds from this event allow us to do many things for our town and membership; civic improvement, scholarships, excellent speakers and quality programs. We all benefit!
