Pepperell Garden Club
The Pepperell Garden Club started in the fall of 1968, when Peg Gillette, along with Pauline Mahony, shown above, gathered a group of five or six people to discuss the possibility of organizing a local garden club. By the spring of 1969, elected officers took the helm and the Pepperell Garden Club grew to twelve members.
Meetings took place in the homes of members until the third year. After that, the meeting location moved to the Lawrence Library, then the Monument Federal Savings Bank in 1977 and the Methodist Church Parish Hall in 1978. In September of 1979 the club began to hold meetings at the Pepperell Community Center, where they remained for many years.
The club voted to become a member of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts in 1982. Meetings were moved again in the fall of 2005 to a larger facility, the newly built Pepperell Senior Center. The current roster incudes forty three members.
Our purpose remains to learn, share, beautify our town, and show our accomplishments.
