A Message from Phil Bognar
|
On behalf of my entire staff, I would like to thank the people of Fenton, Valley Park, Ballwin, Manchester, Twin Oaks, and unincorporated St. Louis County that reside in the Missouri 93rd House District for their support throughout my campaign for State Representative. To the 8,505 of you who entrusted me with your vote, I offer my sincere and humble gratitude. And while we didn't quite reach our goal this time around, your voices spoke loudly and clearly that there is a need for positive change in our community. You rejected negativity and voted with your conscience, and for that, you have my utmost respect and appreciation. To those of you who contributed your time and money to my campaign, I wish to extend my heartfelt thanks. While you undoubtedly share my disappoinment in defeat, I hope I was able to prove myself worthy of your sacrifice. To my dedicated staff, who worked tirelessly and diligently to help me win this race, I am eternally indebted to you. Without your help, none of this would have been even remotely possible. I am extremely proud to have taken this journey with you. And to my loyal friends and loving family, you have my deepest affection. You stood beside me through good times and bad. Words can never begin to express what your support and encouragement has meant to me. I thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for believing in me. Together, we waged a hard-fought campaign. Even as the opposition threw stones and slung mud, we remained positive, always choosing to take the high road. In the face of adversity and long odds, we managed to perservere. In the end, we came up just a tad short, but we can all hold our heads high, knowing we gave it our best. As many of you know, this was my first bid for elected office. I made my share of mistakes along the way, but I've learned from them. I take some solace in the knowledge that I received more votes than either candidate in the 2006 race. Of course, that's mostly a testament to the determination of voters to actively bring about the change that we so desparately need in the 93rd. We just need to push a little bit harder in 2010 and I believe we can finally take this House seat back. Although my initial run for State Rep was ultimately unsuccessful, it nonetheless rekindled my desire to pursue a career dedicated to public service. I don't yet know what the immediate future holds for me, but I'm confident that my first foray into politics will not be my last. Another run may not be eminent--I may choose to shift my focus elsewhere for a time--but I can assure you that you haven't heard the last of me. You will hear my name again. To quote Ah-nuld (as so many defeated politicians have in the past...) "I'll be back!" ~Phil
