Laura Ober was born 5 July 1842, Macomb, MI. Her parents were Peter and Jane Millar Ober. Laura married Charles Stead about 1863
and moved to Canada where her first son, Irvin, was born in 1864. They
returned to MI, settling in Gratiot County in 1865. They had 7 more
children. Only three were alive by 1880. Egbert was born in 1866 and died in
infancy, Her husband, Charles Stead, died of brain congestion 11 Aug 1870 when they were living in Maple Rapids, Gratiot Co. The family returned to Sterling, Macomb Co, MI to live near Stead relatives. Charles was buried in the family cemetery in Utica, MI.
When the Stead boys became of age, they returned to the Maple Rapids area, living out the rest of their lives there. Laura died after breaking her hip from falling through Elmer's second story floor, June 4th, 1905.
Peter Osborn Ober ( 12 Feb 1811 NY - 4 Sep 1892, Macomb, MI) and Jane Millar (28 Jul 1818, Monroe, NY - 11 Sep 1861, Macomb, MI) married 3 June 1838 in Macomb, MI . Their children were:
Peter's parents were Eliakim (ca 1780, VT - 19 Oct 1853, Sterling, MI) and Desire Ober (1783, VT - 10 May 1851, Sterling, MI) Eliakim's family is listed in the 1810 census for Manlius, Onondaga, NY, 1820 census for Junius, Seneca, NY, 1840 Macomb, MI. Their children were:
