Pine needle basket
making is a craft originating centuries ago, and can be found
throughout the world including Mexico, Peru, Africa, and the
United States.
I discovered this
craft while traveling in Florida. First, from a woman who was
drying pine needles on a picnic table. I decided to ask her what
she was doing, and she was kind enough to show me, and I was
hooked! She showed me how to get started, and then I went on
to take some lessons from the same gentleman she had taken lessons
from.
From there it is history!
My hobby has started taking over my house, and my addiction is
out of control!! I just love creating different types of baskets
with pine needles.
Your basket is handmade
beginning with the drying and dyeing of the needles to the finished
product.
I use pine needles
(of course) sea shells, walnut slices, beads, and teneriffe, which
is a weaving process with raffia, and anything else I can think
of to create my baskets.
I then finish with
a polyurethane coating to protect the basket. It should last
many lifetimes.
Thanks for looking!!

If you would like
a certain size and shape, or a basket made from pine needles
from your property, I will be glad to take special orders.
