Well, well....hell must have just froze over because I did something that I vowed never to do; that being I bought a Japanese car!! I was in search of a different daily driver and knowing that I was going to be driving quite a bit in the near future I decided to base my choice mainly on fuel economy. I was looking at Jetta TDI's, but they were more than I wanted to spend for a daily driver. Then I worked some numbers and the added fuel economy of the Jetta didn't justify the additional cost over the Civic, as I would have to put on something like 200,000 miles or more to just break even. That's when I decided on a Civic. I then started looking around for used ones and suddenly realized that used Civics seem to really hold there value. So, I ended up buying a brand new Civic LX Coupe 5-speed for close to what some of them were going for used. Plus buying new I qualified for 2.9% financing where used would have been upwards of 6.0%. So far I am pretty happy with it and it's fuel economy. I am AVERAGING almost 37MPG with it over a 15,000 mile period. As of right now my plans are to either sell it outright in fall of 2007 and buy a new '07 Civic or trade it in on the aforementioned car. The Civics are being redesigned in 2006 and they are going to be getting a more powerful motor that gets even BETTER gas mileage. Plus, from what I have seen of them, they are looking pretty decent too....for a Civic that is ;-)
