Group History

This Rochester ultimate group started up in 1992, by mostly Med students from Mayo Medical School. Pickup games were three times a week: Tues/Thurs 5:30PM and Sundays 2PM, at the field located north of Mayo High School and just south of HW14. For the first few winters, Sundays were year-round.

In the fall of 1994, Rochester sent it's first team to an ultimate tournament: Cooler Classic. Our team name was the R.U.G.R.A.T.S (Rochester Ultimate Group - Run And Throw Squad). The Rugrats sent a team to UPA Club Sectionals every year '94-'98, with the peak results in '95 where we placed 5th at Sectionals (the top three teams went on to Regionals). In the the late-90's, we played some summer Sundays at East Park and we played in the falls at IBM Park.

Around 2000, we got set up on a free e-mail list server for the group. Sunday/weekend play came to be only whenever someone organized to play that weekend, and T/Th start time got moved back. For just the 2001 season, we played south of the RCTC Heintz building.

In early 2003 we changed our tourament team name to Critical Point (CPR). We also set up this website around the same time. We had our biggest open club successes in the summer of 2004 and the falls of 2004-7. In 2009-10, we only attended the annual HalloWinona tournament in late Oct.

During the fall we play under the lights at Soldier's Field park, (possibly only once a week) until about the end of October.

We play indoors sometimes in the winters: we have have played at the RCTC Rockenbach Gym (now gone), the Golf Dome (now gone), Soccer World, and the RCTC Stadium-with-bubble/dome.
