It is with great sorrow that we anounce the passing of Terry Oss, one of the founders of Gopherwood.
R.I.P. Terry, We'll miss you.
Terry Clayton Oss
March 26, 1952 – April 20, 2017
Terry’s spirit was released to the Cosmos, with his loving wife Rita and son Max at his side. He lived everyday to the fullest, with grace, gratitude and an indomitable humor. Each day was a small triumph over the Huntington’s Disease that ultimately claimed him.
A lifelong potter, Terry’s efforts enriched the arts in and around Cadillac for over 40 years. He was a co-producer of the Cadillac Film Guild, a past president of the Cadillac Arts Council and instrumental to the formation of Gopherwood Concerts.
Known for his brilliant mind and wicked sense of humor, Terry filled his retirement days with sailing, walking, reading, competitive chess and crossword puzzles. He lived out his dream of spending winters in Florida, walking Lido Beach, swimming in his pool and delighting in palm trees and sunshine. He was having the time of his life.
Terry is survived by his wife Rita Meech, his son Maxwell Oss of Los Angeles, his sisters Mary Beth Acosta (Mike) of Traverse City and Heather Trapchak (Mark) of Farmington Hills. A memorial service is planned for this summer in Cadillac.
Donations in Terry’s name may be directed to www.crowdrise.com/theshepherdsgift, a non-profit organization raising funds to support the promising “GM-1 for Huntington’s” research program.
Our next show is John Gorka, on FRIDAY, June 2nd with special guest Amilia K. Spicer. We are very excited to present this great singer/songwriter on the Gopherwood Stage.
