Payment is $15 (U.S.) plus 10% royalties on copies sold plus 1 author Ebook copy. If you do not agree with this payment schedule, then please do not submit. Read below for collaborations. Sim subs okay with notification. If your chapbook is accepted elsewhere while being considered by us, please have the courtesy to withdraw it. If your chapbook has already been accepted by another publisher (whether or not it's been published) or any part of your chapbook has been published in another chapbook (online or off), then please don't waste our time or yours and submit to us. Any style or subject. No graphic works, no porno, no horror. Keep it clean please. Sci Fi okay. Free verse preferred. Experimental poems welcome. Quirky material is great. Collaborations are unlikely to work here unless you agree to split the above payment and submit everything together at once. Your poems in your chapbook can all work together carrying on the same sort of subject or theme within the whole chapbook or they can be poems that are meant to be stand alone. Hints: Rhyming poetry or a lot of formal works is unlikely to find a home here. Shorter works are preferred. No submissions within the body of the email. See below for formatting guidelines. Please use a standard font like Times New Roman or Arial in your submission. Please limit characters to no more than approximately 60 - 70 per line. We do not have the formatting capacity to print long lines so we are unlikely to accept submissions with those type of poems. Poems need to be able to fit in print in chapbook format (to get an idea of this take a 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper and fold it in half). If you have a lot of formatted poems with lots of spacing, indentions, white spaces it is unlikely to find a home here just because we don't have the capacity to format it. Email submissions only. Attach file as either a Word for Windows .doc or .rtf file. Subject heading must say "Assume Nothing Press - TPME - Chapbook Submission - Author Name" for email to be opened and read. No submissions within the body of the email. Submit minimum 15 pages of poetry, limit is 20-30 pages or 25 poems total. Include cover page with or without artwork (artwork must be your own and not someone else's copyrighted work). Also include Table of Contents page, Acknowledgments page, and Bio page. Poems must be original, previously unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere. If your chapbook includes previously published works, then you must include prior publication info on your Acknowledgments page and hold the republication rights. Takes First North American Serial Rights. Rights revert to poet after that; however, poet must acknowledge prior publication in his/her chapbook by Assume Nothing Press. Sim subs are okay but please have the courtesy to notify us if your chapbook submission gets accepted elsewhere before you hear from us. Regarding previously published poems: Previously published poems in your chapbook manuscript may be included if and only if 1) you hold the rights, 2) you list when and where the previously published poems were originally published, 3) you list each and every publication, zine, website, newsletter, whatever where your poem was published, 4) you make this very clear in your submission, and 5) you include an Acknowledgements page in your chapbook manuscript --don't make us guess! Submissions will be read and recommended by poetry workshop students. Chapbooks will be published by Assume Nothing Press. Because we are only publishing short chapbooks to sell online and for the poet if so desired to sell at his/her readings, ISBN #s will not be used. Chapbooks will be promoted by The Poetry Market Ezine. Reading fee = $3 (US). Reading fee is necessary to defray expenses for making copies for readers and is kept as low as possible. Some publishers charge $25 on up. We're just trying to subsidize the cost of copies which is way more than $3. No exceptions. Don't send your submission without the fee, or email and ask if we'll consider it without the fee -- we won't. Reading fee may be paid via paypal.com. Pay fee now: Pay Fee (Please note: if you are using Firefox, you may need to click the IE tab to get the link to paypal.com to pop up correctly. If you have problems, email Chapbook Submission - Inquiry) If you need to pay your reading fee by regular mail, please note this in your submission. No submission will be considered without the reading fee. Assume Nothing Press plans to publish 1-2 titles per year. WE READ AND ACCEPT SUBMISSIONS ALL YEAR LONG.
