The intended crew size for an operating session includes four mainline operators. There are a variety of through trains, transfers with set out and pickup of blocks of cars, and trains with heavy local switching. This provides a good mix for operators. The operating sequence is divided into two "shifts". Only one shift is run at a session. Instructions for local switching are by the color and letter on the color-coded-tacks. Generally, once a car is delivered to an industry, it remains in place until the end of the second shift. Times are per a 4:1 fast clock.
