ABtF - A Bridge Too Far, HASL Module 6: Arnhem 1944 - British versus German
ABS - Australian Balance System
AoO - Armies of Oblivion, ASL Module 12: Axis Minor Armor & Guns OoB (to be released)
AP1 - Action Pack #1
AP2 - Action Pack #2
ASL - Advanced Squad Leader
ASLML - ASL Internet Mailing List. The online "discussion group".
ASLOK - ASL Octoberfest in Cleveland (a good time!)
ASLRB - The ASL Rules Book
ASLRB2 - The Second Edition of the ASLRB
ASLSK - Advanced Squad Leader Starter Kit
BRT - Blood Reef: Tarawa, HASL Module 5: Betio Island 1943 - USMC versus Japanese
BRV - Berlin: Red Vengeance, HASL by HOB: Berlin, 1945 - Russian versus German
BtB - Beyond the Beachhead, scenario/map pack from HOB: Normandy bocage - Allies versus German
BV - Beyond Valor, ASL Module 1: German Order of Battle (OoB), USSR OoB, Finn OoB, and generic markers (used every game you play)
CdG - Croix de Guerre, ASL Module 10: French OoB
CG - Campaign Game. A series of scenarios played in sequence, usually using survivors of one scenario to determine the OB for the next. CG rules are usually integral parts of HASL modules.
CH - Critical Hit (producer of ASL-compatible products)
CoB - Code of Bushido, ASL Module 8: Japanese OoB and Pacific Theater rules
COWTRA - Taken from Don Greenwood's Introduction: "Concentrate On What The Rules Allow". Rule-of-thumb for interpreting the ASLRB.
DASL - Deluxe ASL. ASL played on boards with very big hexes (for ease of stacking).
DB - Doomed Battalions, ASL Module 11: Allied Minor Armor & Guns OoB
DFtB - Dispatches from the Bunker

- Desert Theatre of Operations, i.e., the "desert rules" (also covers some of the Mediterranean and Steppe Terrain regions).
ETO - European Theatre of Operations, i.e., the default ASL rules.
FKaC - For King and Country, ASL Module 5a: New British/Commonwealth OoB
FtF - Face-to-Face. Your opponent is sitting across from you, as opposed to PBEM.
GH - Gung Ho!, ASL Module 9: USMC OoB and Landing Craft
Grognard - "Old grumblers". Originally the term used by Napoleon to describe his veteran troops, who were habitual complainers, it's now applied to "veteran" wargamers (not just ASL players) -- you know, those "old fogeys" who remember way back when....
GStK - God Save the King, HASL module by HOB: Arnhem 1944 - British versus German
HASL - Historical ASL. Used to denote a module using a mapboard designed to recreate a specific battle, rather than using the generic geomorphic mapboards.
HH - Hedgerow Hell, Deluxe ASL Module 2: DASL in the hedgerows of Normandy
HL - Hollow Legions, ASL Module 7: Italian OoB
HOB - Heat of Battle (producer of ASL-compatible products)
HS - Historical Study (not be be confused with "half-squad")
KE - Kinetic Energy (producer of ASL-compatible products)
KGP1 - Kampfgruppe Pieper, Volume 1, HASL Module 2: Stoumont (Bulge) 1944 - German vs American
KGP2 - Kampfgruppe Pieper, Volume 2, HASL Module 3: La Gleize and Cheneux (Bulge) 1944 - American versus German
LFT - Le Franc Tireur
MMP -Multiman Publishing (THE official producer of ASL & compatible products)
NFNH - SS-3: Neither Fear Nor Hope, scenario pack by HOB - Waffen-SS versus Allies
NQNG - SS-1: No Quarter, No Glory, scenario pack by HOB - Waffen-SS versus Allies
NRBH - No Rulebook Handy. Term used by players asking or answering rules questions online without benefit of having the rulebook available to provide exact citations.
OoB - Order of Battle
OotA - Out of the Attic: Magazine containing reprints of old ASL articles and scenarios
OtO - Onslaught to Orsha, HASL by HOB: Operation Bagration - Russian versus German
OVHS - Operation Veritable Historical Study, HS #2: Riley's Road 1945 - Canadian versus German
OWHS - Operation Watchtower Historical Study, HS #1: Guadacanal 1942 - Japanese versus USMC
Para - Paratrooper, ASL Module 2: Extra Americans, Germans, and markers. The original "introductory" module (before the ASLSK).
Part - Partisan, ASL Module 4: Axis Minor Infantry OoB
PBEM - Play By E-Mail. Your opponent is on the other end of an electronic connection, as opposed to FTF.
PTO - Pacific Theatre of Operations, i.e., the "jungle rules".
PB - Pegasus Bridge, HASL Module 4: June 6 1944 - British versus German
RB - Red Barricades, HASL Module 1: Stalingrad 1942 - German versus Russian
RBF - Recon by Fire, magazine by HOB
SASL - Solitaire ASL
SP - Schwerpunkt (producer of ASL-compatible products)
SoF - Streets of Fire, Deluxe ASL Module 1: DASL in the streets of Stalingrad
TAHGC - The Avalon Hill Game Company, now a Hasbro affiliate. Formerly the official producer of ASL materials, a role now contracted out to MMP.
TLH - The Last Hurrah, ASL Module 6: Allied Minor Infantry OoB. Also abbreviated "LH".
TPM - Third Party Manufacturers. "Unofficial" producers of ASL materials (eg, Heat of Battle)
TPP - Third Party Producers. See TPM
VASL/VASSAL - Virtual ASL. A java-based program used to play ASL online, either live or PBEM. VASL is the module for ASL, VASSAL is an engine that can be used for other games as well.
VFTT - View from the Trenches. A nice series of online ASL journals.
WoA - West of Alamein, ASL Module 5b: Original British/Commonwealth OoB and Desert Theater rules. To be reprinted eventually without the British OoB
