A few days after the
LEGION systems were back up, Mr. Madison was instituting a full scale search into the
whereabouts of Scarlet Speaker, who strangely disappeared,
the day after the Suicide Squad had raided the mansion.
Mike the Elder had arrived at the mansion, unbeknownst to the heroes. He was also
searching for his student. He was comparing his info with that of the LEGION. Lana and Shadow Wing both arrived at the mansion that day, not
knowing what to make of it. Mr. Madison, not expecting anymore new heroes, was surprised
by the new ones. He called an unofficial meeting, giving everyone the rundown of the
LEGION. At the end of the meeting, Mike the Elder walked in and the meeting shifted to the
whereabouts of Scarlet Speaker. Mike felt that, with all the evidence he had gathered,
combined with the facts of the LEGION tracking the source on the watch, Scarlet Speaker
was on the bottom of Lake Erie at the base of Tower. He
wanted the help of the LEGION in searching for their ally. Everyone readily agreed, though
Shadow Wing stressed he was not part of the LEGION. Mike created a portal in a wall, and
everyone passed through. They found themselves in a dark, dank, cobweb-filled room. The
group then went about searching for Scarlet Speaker. Mentallis
detected his mind far beneath them, while Mike could not detect anything. They searched a
few rooms before they found a room, in which five Dreadnought's
were waiting for them. Mike dispatched with four of them, while the last was sliced in
half by Lana (a natural 100 on her die). They found a pit leading downward from the room.
The whole group went down the pit. When the walls turned from man-made metal to hand-cut
stone, all hell broke loose. Daytime started feeling weak,
while Mike started dropping like a rock. His magic had left him and he was helpless to
save himself. Altier couldn't reach him in time, but
Mentallis managed to TK him gently down to the bottom of the pit. They found Scarlet
Speaker in one of the cells, badly hurt, his chest taped heavily. Someone had been taking
care of him at least, but he was not doing very well. Daytime was unable to fly, and Mike
also could still not fly. With some adjustments of who was carrying who, they took off
back up the shaft. They then tried to exit the way they came, and found that the pit was
blocked about half-way up with a heavy metal hatch. Tower's voice echoed throughout the
chamber thanking Mike for bringing his friends. The group tried to escape but were unable to do so. Tower surprised them
when she released the hatches on her own and told them they needed to get out because the
base was under attack. The LEGION, not knowing what to expect, ascended the shaft and
found Tower with several Dreadnoughts waiting at the top in the room. Tower gave Mike a Dreadnought saying it had all the answers. She also told them
the way out. Before they had a chance to respond, she left to deal with whomever was
attacking her base. The group followed the Dreadnought to a teleport pad and they used it.
As the last one teleported, water started rushing into the room. They found themselves on
the beach. As they gathered their surroundings, they say a large tidal wave coming towards
the beach. They also heard several screams coming from the beach. Mentallis got
Scarlet Speaker to safety, while the rest set about rescuing the people on the beach. They
managed to rescue everybody, and the wave crashed into the beach burying both Mike and the
Dreadnought under it's tremendous strength. The LEGION managed to save both of them, and
Mike effected a quick escape for everyone as a news copter was flying overhead. The LEGION
headed back to the mansion, and found Mr. Madison and Dark Eagle waiting for them. Daytime
was surprised to see his mentor and they quickly played catch-up with each other. Scarlet
Speaker was rushed to the medical lab, while everyone else went to the comm room on the
second floor, which is where the Suicide Squad concentrated their attack. Mike left with
Mr. Madison, as they started examining the Dreadnought closely. Mike and Mr. Madison
returned to the comm room, with the news gathered so far from the Tower's robot. Tower was
on the run from the government for info she had, namely the fact the government is
creating paranormals on purpose. The government is expecting a paranormal war apparently,
and want to be prepared for it. Tower was seeking the help of Mike, since her government
contacts were now working against her. She had apparently sacrificed herself so that Mike
could get this info out of the base. Shadow Wing again expressed his desire to not
join the LEGION, as he left. He did offer his help in the future though. |
