Repair Log - Qix

The Power Supply

On power up, the game didn't do anything. I measured the voltages from the power supply, and nothing was coming out. So I "shotgunned" the power supply, replacing every transistor and chip on the thing. Still nothing... oh wait, there's an overvoltage protection circuit. I turned a little potentiometer to pull the voltage down, and when it was in the range it was supposed to be, it started generating the proper DC currents. Did it even need the other repairs? I don't know, but it didn't hurt anything to replace those parts.

The PCB

Next, the PCB wasn't doing anything except lighting its test LEDs seemingly at random. All I've done on the PCB so far is yank the board and put it on my test bench, so there's not much to report here right now. I need to build an adapter for my test bench before I can get to work on this guy. I have verified the EPROMs are good (a little tricky, since it's a set that isn't in the MAME ROMs that I've seen - however, it does run in MAME when I make a "fake" Qix II Tournament zip file using the images).
