My Story

I got interested in scanning because when I grew up in Bay City
I would hear sirens especially in the summer months since I was outside a lot.
Just came about from being curious what was going on. I am not a ham radio guy, no interest.

145Originally I had my first scanner, a BC145XLT, with 16 channels.
I was constantly putting in, taking out channels, just needed a list!
I then submitted that list to local Bulletin Board (BBS') in the tri-cities area.
Those were systems that you would call a persons second phone line that they
had a dedicated pc setup for  forums, programs etc. Ah, those were the days!
First portable was a 20 channel BC70XLT.

Currently I use for a desktop is the BCD996T, a digital channel scanner that I have which is hooked up to a diamond  discone antenna.

My first trunktacking unit that can decode the MSP radios, it’s the BCD396T.
With that scanner, it can be easily programmed with a computer. I also have available lists (.usd files)
made with this program from Uniden at the Yahoo BCD396T group which also has nationwide lists.

The cadillac of portables; I also have is the upgraded version of the above, the BCD396XT
With that scanner, it can be easily programmed with a computer. I also have available lists (.usd files)
made with this program from Freescan. Join the Yahoo BCD396XT group for nationwide lists.

Portables; I used a BC200XLT , a 200 channel and
1st 800 MHz I owned.  Used a BC70XLT and was my first portable.
Both of which were sold.

I still have a BC8500 desktop
