Several Fine Digital Cameras

I have been one to denigrate digital cameras for some time.  See my infamous pixels shmixels note elsewhere on this web site. My basic argument is that while the size of the pixels is small enough to compete with the grain of fast color films, the chips have simply not been large enough to all for what I consider reasonably large final prints or displays.

I have changed my mind with the purchase and use of several new Canon Digital Cameras.  I will briefly review three Canon cameras I now use.  They range from the Professional D-30 which is an EOS based digital camera that uses all of the Canon EOS lenses to the Pro 90, a larger point and shoot with many professional capabilities and a tiny point and shoot which can be slipped in a pocket, the Canon S300.

These range from $2800 for the D-30 without a lens to $1000 for the Pro 90 with a 10X zoom lens to the S300 with a 3X zoom lens and a price of  $500.  These three cameras cover a large range of prices and capabilities.   All are among the best of their types in my opinion.

All take CF cards in large sizes up to 256 Mb.  Additionally the D-30 takes the IBM micro disk which holds 350 Mb.  But from here the differences are great.   The D-30 is a truely professional camera which uses the entire collection of Canon EOS lenses and accessories.  It has all of the features and capabilities of the Canon EOS camera line.
