From the Desk of Jack D. Bowden, Jr., Director: Beckley/Raleigh County Emergency Operating Center provides the citizens of Raleigh County with emergency assistance 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In 1982 the Beckley Common Council and the Raleigh County Commission agreed to combine Emergency Services (which included 911) under House Bill 2018 which was passed by the Legislature in 1982. Since then Beckley/Raleigh County has grown into one of the most recognized centers not only in the state of West Virginia but throughout the eastern United States. Our goal is to render courteous, efficient service at all times. We provide an ever-ready service to the public through constant contact with police, fire, ambulance units, as well as the State Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. The Emergency Operating Center is responsible for constantly upgrading and developing plans to better assist/respond to the residents of Beckley/Raleigh County during times of disaster, whether the need is for evacuation, food, shelter, water, emergency medical services, fires, civil disasters, hazardous materials, coal mining accidents, winter storms, floods or weapons of mass destruction. We are dedicated to providing immediate courteous, professional life saving assistance to our citizens of Raleigh County. It is with great appreciation that we thank the citizens of Raleigh County for their continued support of our Center. The Beckley/Raleigh County Enhanced 911 and Emergency Management Center is an important part of our citizens daily life; always ready to serve and always ready to make 911 the number that could save your life.
