RAPID
DECAY BIO:

Rapid Decay can
be quickly summed up in
terms of style , as a thrash / punk /
metal / “crossover” band. We exist to bring a new edge to the
sounds that were
founded by the great bands we have grown up listening to , such as ,
GWAR ,
Kreator , D.R.I. , The Exploited , S.O.D. , and Suicidal Tendencies ...
just to name a few
. Through
our music we channel all of the hate , violence , perverted thoughts
and morbid
humor that we have brewing in our heads out into the world for everyone
to
thrash to .
There are
nearly seven years of history that
lead us to our current lineup and style . In 1997 i started singing in
a punk
rock or " perv rock " band , as we liked to call it . The group was
called " The Retards " with Joe on guitar , Eric ( a.k.a. Mr. Earwig )
on bass and a
friend of ours named Mario on drums . Before that , Joe had played
drums in a punk band called " C.C.D. " , Eric played drums and Mario
played Guitar in another punk band called " The Y's Guys " . " The
Retards " was a total garage band
, and
we played any where , any time , and usually in back yards or garages ,
at keg
parties
with bunches of crazies getting drunk and wild , and too often way out
of
control . After about two years of that combined with the fact that the
songs
we were playing then didn’t have much depth to them , we all just kind
of got
burnt out and it just fell apart . After some time was spent gaining
skills and
maturing by jaming out casually , and slowly buying decent equiptment
to play
some actual gigs . Joe and I wanted to get something going that sounded
heavier , and more metal edged than what we had played in the past .
Eventually a new band was spawned
. At first we called it "Fermented Fetus"
, and we had another friend of ours named Travis
doing lead vocals . We were also trying a different , more like death
metal
style in the beginning . Things didnt
quite work out like that and Travis left the band . Returning to our
thrash / punk roots , now it was just the three of us ( Joe / Dug /
Eric ), we wrote some new songs
and
started playing at bars around the local area . The “ RAPID DECAY ” had
begun .
Since
then , we have made a couple more
line up changes . We found a second guitarist , Nolan , joined us in
2002 and
shortly after that Mr. Earwig stepped out to do his own thing . Joe
took over
on drums and we have been rockin steady for over a year now . With the
current
line up our style continues to get heavier with each new song we write
, while
still maintaining that “crossover “ feeling that has been such a big
influence
on us . If we had to sum up the lyrical style into one phrase it would
be
“watch the world decay” , meaning that the subjects we write about
primarily
have to do with the rapidly declining quality of life here on this
planet .
Some songs might be quite intense and serious , while others are quite
sarcastic or comedic . I guess that’s really become the staple of our
lyrics ,
there are some real thoughts mixed in with all the chaos .
When all is
said and done though , our only
real goals are , to rock hard all over the world , make entertaining
and
lasting records , piss some people off along the way , and watch this
world
decay .
