Roger Barritt

817-454-7109

Fort Worth, Texas

The oldest of five sons. Rogers' mother, Virginia, of Native American descent, instilled in Roger an appreciation of history, tradition and art. She became his earliest mentor and supporter in his art career, which has now spanned almost 40 years.

Predominantly working in oils, Rogers focus always seems to be about history, the west, and has an exceptional authenticity, which seems to pervade his very prolific body of work. His hallmark is the teaming life and numerous populations of people and livestock filling his canvases.

Roger, who is a great family man, has a lovely wife and three great children.  He is a graduate of Brewer High and went to college at TCC.  His paintings evoke a comfortable feeling of tradition, and a true sense of the reality of the old west.

Roger currently works and paints in his studio/Gallery in the Fort Worth Stockyards, which he founded 12 years ago, and has been commissioned to paint six historically significant murals for the Rodeo Shoppes Plaza. He has been featured on a University of North Texas historical documentary for PBS and several other public broadcast interviews. He has also had artwork featured in several Ranching Magazines.
