These collages were created to show both the grandiosity and the miniature wonder of the prairies.  If you look closely, you will notice that the prairie collages are composed of tiny marks: the cross stitch of the thread, and the dashes of pastel.  The tiny marks are meant to echo the small and diverse worlds found in the prairies.  With so much constant in-our-face stimulation and noise these days, it is easy to miss the complex beauty of our native land.  Closer examination reveals a quiet beauty and rich life all around us in these vast fields.
