A Closer look

This is what she looked like when I finally got her to my house 11 November 2000. I was kind of racing the weather since there was a severe winter storm predicted for that night.
I'm sure you're admiring my new 18', tandem axle, electric braked car haulin' trailer. Thanks go to Todd's Trailers of Granite Falls, MN. It's a beauty. My Mighty '93 Dodge Dakota 4X4 had no trouble at all dragging Camilla 180 miles across Minnesota.

Here are some pics of the front of the car. As you can see, I'm going to need some new fenders and some other parts. The hood (bonnet for those of you that insist on Brit-speak because its a British car) is astually very straight and shouldn't need replacing. You can see the lack of front side marker lights that I mentioned on the History page.

These pics show some of the glass damage. The windshield and frame are obviously goners. The door vent windows are shot but, the rollup windows are alright as they were down during the tornado.

The backside of the car took a pretty good beating. The trunk (the boot...) lid and the taillight assemblies are the worst of it.

In this picture you can see just how violent a tornado can be. Notice how the paint has been curled away from the metal as a result of being smacked so violently. Try recreating that in your shop.

Here's an example of some of the junk that gets blown into places during a tornado. This stuff is fiberglass insulation, dirt, glass (not from this car), leaves, twigs and etc.

In this pic you will notice that something ain't right. The interior is Autumn Leaf color but the carpet is black. Mom & Dad replaced the carpet some time ago and liked the black. I have no idea how the radio got partially pulled out.

Here's Camilla entering the garage that she will share with Gretel. Gretel is my '78 Porsche 924 Carrera look-alike. You can also see a lot of the junk that had to go before the MG could fit in. One of the things I had to get rid of was an '83 Porsche 944 (a.k.a. "The Cadaver" or "The Organ Donor"). I have also included a pic of Gretel if only because I'd rather spend my time playing with Porsches than MG Midgets.
