The Kombat Airmadillo trainer 60 in described as an extremely durable, quick building R/C airplane. The fuselage is aluminum square tubing with oak reinforcing and the wing and tail are heavy corrugated rubberized plastic. The wing has a symmetrical triangular airfoil with a couple degrees of dihedral.

The plane does not come with an instruction manual but rather a fullsize blueprint.

Construction is started by installing the engine. A .91 4 - stroke engine was chosen for this one. A couple of quick modifications were needed to accommodate such a large engine. Next, the servos were installed using servo tape and cable ties, which are included with the kit. The fuel tank gets assembled and installed using cable ties. The landing gear is bolted on. The builder has a choice of making this plane a tail dragger if so desired.

Control tubes are fastened to the fuselage with ties. The receiver and batteries are installed into a fuel tank that has had its bottom removed. Stuff in a little foam rubber and fasten it in the fuselage again using cable ties. The rear tail parts are also made of the same material as the wing. They just bolt on. The wing comes ready to mount to the plane using 2 - 1/4x20 nylon screws and 2 fender washers. Connect the control rods and adjust the control surfaces to 1/2" throws as specified on the blueprint.

After the balance is checked, the Kombat 60 is ready to fly. Because of the weight of the engine, the plane was very nose heavy. Some weight was needed in the rear so lengths of 1/8" diameter spring steel rods were slid into the openings of the corrugated plastic in the rear and glued. The tail feathers are now very strong. The wheels were changed to 3.5" diameter.

The plane flies well and with that much power up front will go straight up till out of site. The fuel tank holds only 6 ounces of fuel so it limits flying time severely. Plans have been made to add a second fuel tank of the same size next to the existing tank fastening them in place with large cable ties.

The Airplane Factory came up with a very clever fleet of planes.
