BUILDING HISTORY--1893
(taken from the editions of The Reeseville Review)

7 Apr 1893:  The barn on the Fr. Yerges farm four miles south of town was struck by lightning and burned down on Monday.  Also lost was hay and grain.  The value was $1000, which was partially insured.

28 July 1893:  The work of overhauling the Runkel elevator is nearing completion.  The basement was raised 2 feet, 4 feet was added to the upper part of the building, an iron roof was added and the cupola enlarged.

25 Aug 1893:  John Kohn has purchased the Fred Kohn house and lot.

1 Sept 1893:  H.L. Snow has sold his residence to John Kohn for $1550 and purchased the Fred Kohn property.

8 Sept 1893:  John Kohn has purchased a lot of S. Woodward and is putting up a new barn.

29 Sept 1983:  P.W. Kohn has completed his new coal sheds west of Main Street.

20 Oct 1893:  J.T. Leitz has moved into his new house recently erected on the farm formerly occupied by Thomas Fox.  C.W. Weber is building an addition to his house by lengthening and raising the west wing.  Roth and Acker are doing the work.  Jos. and Dennis Griffin have purchased a lot adjoining the residence of Dr. Kuentzel and are to put up a building for a commission store.

3 Nov 1893:  Roth Manufacturing Co. is increasing the size of its pickel house by putting up a building somewhat larger that that originally planned.  Jos. Griffin has exchanged the lot recently purchased by him for one at the north end of the C.A. Buss blacksmith shop.  The warehouse and other buildings that occupied the lot have been removed and a new building for feed and commission store is to be built.

10 Nov 1893:  John Kohn is adding a commodious kitchen to his residence in the village.

17 Nov 1893:  Work is underway on the Griffin feed and commission store located on S. Main near the Review office.  Is 24 x 40 feet with 20 foot corner posts.

24 Nov 1893:  Jos. Griffin's new building is up and enclosed.
