CATTLE (1870)

The following information relates to cattle herd size in the Reeseville community according to the 1870 agricultural census schedules for the Towns of Lowell, Portland and Elba and the Village of Reeseville.

NOTE:  For each household the number of milch cows and other cattle were totaled to reach "total number" of cattle per household.

There were 1056 cattle in a total of 144 households for the Reeseville community.  This meant that the median size of a household's herd was 7.3 cattle in 1870.
