MRS. GEORGE ETSCHEID, SR. LAID AT REST TUESDAY Mrs. George Etscheid, Sr. passed away at the home of her son, Henry C. at Waupun on Saturday, Jan. 7. (editor's note: the obituary clipping has the date "1928" penciled on it) at the age of 78 years, 6 months and 9 days. About four weeks before her death she fell at the home of her daughter and broke her leg above the ankle. She was recovering nicely from this injury until a week ago when pneumonia developed which resulted in her death. Eugenia Kuntz was born at Alsace, France, June 29, 1849. When 4 years of age she came to this country with her parents who settled at Cleveland Ohio. A year later the family moved to a farm near Lowell and she has since made her home in that vicinity. In March 1868, she was united in marriage to Mr. George Etscheid who passed away March 14, 1924. Since the death of her husband she has been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. F.J. Gogert. Mrs. Etscheid was a kind and loving mother and a good friend and neighbor and she will be greatly missed by a large number of friends. She leaves surviving five sons, George of Columbus, Albert of Lawrence, Kan., Eugene of Watertown, Henry of Waupun and Gerhardt of Milwaukee and one daughter, Mrs. F.J. Gogert of town Lowell, also 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The remains were taken to Lowell and funeral services were held at 12 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. E. DeBuhr of the First Reformed church officiated. Interment was made at Hillside in Columbus. |
