Chapter-at-Large
Membership Information
Often times, Sweet Adelines aren't able to maintain membership in a certain chorus in the region, but still wish to maintain their membership in the organization and more specifically, the region. Because of this, Sweet Adelines offers Chapter-at-Large (CAL) membership. Region 22 currently has more than 35 CAL members. These members are full-fledged members of Sweet Adelines International. They can compete in quartets, participate in prospective choruses, attend regional and international events at member rates, and receive mailings from the region and International.
There are many reasons why members join CAL. Sometimes it is because they're living in a geographical location that is too far from a chartered chorus to drive each week to rehearsals. Sometimes it is due to time, money, and/or family commitments that prevent them from maintaining membership in a chorus. Whatever the reason, Region 22 values its CAL members just as much as its chorus members! Region 22 has a CAL Coordinator who regularly contacts CAL members in the region to answer questions and update them on upcoming events in the region.
Currently, it costs each CAL member in Region 22 a total of $145 per year to be a part of CAL. $85 of this goes to International ($75 per capita fee + $10 CAL dues) and $60 of this goes to Region 22 ($20 anniversary assessment + $40 secondary (convention) assessment). By paying this, members receive The Pitch Pipe international magazine, the Catch 22 regional newsletter, an all-events pass to the Region 22 annual convention and competition, and other perks enjoyed by all Sweet Adelines International members. Both of these fees must be paid in full each year in order to be a member-in-good standing of CAL in Region 22.
If you're a member of a chorus and wish to transfer to CAL, contact your chapter treasurer and/or membership chair for more information on how you can transfer your membership.
