CONVENTION HOTELS WILL ACCEPT RESERVATION FORMS BY MAIL BEGINNING MARCH 15, 2008

Submissions received earlier than this date will be considered as not having been received.

  • Your hotel reservation form is attached.
  • Be sure an indicate which nights you are staying at the hotel.
  • List roommates by room.
  • All reservations must be made on this form. Reservations made by
  • Phone or in a method other than by this form will not receive the rate
  • listed above. Fax copies will not be accepted.
  • Rooms are on a first come first serve basis. (An effort to block hotel rooms by chorus will be handled by both hotels based on the type of room requested and the mail date of your reservation.
  • Please note that competing quartets must stay at the same hotel throughout the contest weekend.
  • Mail the form directly to the hotel of your choice.
  • To guarantee hotel reservation one night’s lodging by a major credit card is required. No checks will be accepted. When you submit your reservation please be sure to include your chorus’s tax exempt certificate, the 7% city tax and the 5% state tax will be waived. If you reserve and pay as an individual or quartet, taxes may not be waived.
  • Final payment for rooms should be done by a single chorus/quartet check or credit card.

FINAL DEADLINE FOR HOTEL ROOMS

Final deadline for hotel rooms is April 1, 2008. After that date all hotel rooms will be released to the general public and you will pay the standard room rate.

  • Regency Suites

    Fox Valley/Appleton-Oshkosh Area

    Take Highway 41 North to Green Bay to Highway 172 East. Go over the Fox River and exit onto Riverside Drive. Turn right, and go 3 miles (Riverside Drive turns into Monroe Avenue). Turn left on Main Street and we are 1 block on the right.

    Madison Area

    Take Highway 151 East to Fond du Lac. Take Highway 41 North to Green Bay. Exit on Highway 172 East and go over the Fox River. Exit onto Riverside Drive and turn right. Go 3 miles (Riverside Drive turns into Monroe Avenue). Turn left on Main Street and we are l block on the right.

    Milwaukee and Chicago Area

    Take Interstate 94 North out of Chicago to Interstate 43 North in Milwaukee to Green Bay Highway 172 East. Take the Webster/Riverside Drive exit. Follow signs through the light to Riverside Drive. Turn right on Riverside Drive. Go 3 miles. (Riverside Drive turns into Monroe Avenue). Turn left on Main Street and we are 1 block on the right.

  • Holiday Inn

    Follow the same directions for the Regency Suites. The Holiday Inn is located 200 Main Street, approximately 1 block from the Regency Suites.

HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE HOTEL ROOMS

All handicapped suites are located near the elevators. They have one king size bed in the bedroom with a sofa sleeper in the living room. The bathroom has grab bars next to the lavatory and in the shower. (Note: Does not have a raised toilet or wheel in shower.) Please note that if someone in your chorus requires this type of room, the room may not be adjacent to the remaining rooms that have been blocked out for your chorus. The Holiday Inn has 2 handicapped rooms available.

GENERAL INFORMATION - HOTELS

  • Each individual is responsible for checking in at the Hotel Registration Desk and picking up their key. Check with your chorus convention contact person on how to handle Sunday morning checkout.

  • There is complimentary parking in the lot located in the front of the hotel and the Main Street Parking Ramp, which is located across from the Regency Suites/KI Convention Center and can be accessed via a sky walk.

  • There is free surface parking at the Holiday Inn and a parking ramp across the street from the Holiday Inn.

  • PLEASE DO NOT USE HOTEL TOWELS WHEN REMOVING MAKE-UP.

  • Each hotel has a pool and a hot tub.

  • MEMBERSHIP REMINDER

    Please remember to bring your badge holders with you. Badge holders will be available for sale at the Regional Table by Harmony Mall.

  • OPENING CEREMONIES

    Opening Ceremonies for "Catch The Excitement" will be Friday evening at 6:30PM before the Quartet Competition. Each chorus presents their flag at opening ceremonies. Chorus president/team leaders will be contacted with information concerning the Flag Ceremony.

  • EVENT TICKETS

    The Convention Center Ticket Desk will be open one hour prior to Quartet Competition on Friday and one hour prior to Chorus Competition on Saturday.

  • FOOD AT THE CONVENTION CENTER

    Food will be available at the Convention Center:
    Friday: 5:30PM - 9:00PM
    Saturday: 11:30AM - 4:00PM

    Concession stand will be available at the Convention Center. Please remember that food and drink are not allowed in the Competition Hall. This is a courtesy to your fellow competitors and our guests in the audience. We will have a monitor in the lobby, which will enable you to watch the contest if you are unable to finish your snacks in time to get back to the Competition Hall. Please be considerate of your fellow competitors and keep your voices down.

  • SCHEDULING CHORUS DINNERS AND SPECIAL REHEARSALS

    Banquet rooms at the Regency Suites are being held in the name of the region. Some rooms will be released back to the hotels on April 6, 2008 for other functions. As of April 6, banquet rooms will become available to all choruses and the general public. If you would like to plan a chorus meal or other function contact Shirley VanDeWege. She will contact the hotel and have them mail you a menu. DO NOT CALL THE HOTEL YOURSELF.

  • MEMBER ALL EVENT PASSES

    All members of Region 22 attending competition will be required to purchase a member all events pass. The cost of this pass is $25.00. A member all event pass form was enclosed in the first mailing for each chorus to fill out and return to Convention Treasurer, Dawn Banerdt-Adams by April 2, 2008.

    Please remember that you must purchase an all event pass ($25.00) for your director if he or she is not a member of Sweet Adelines.

    All event passes for new members joining a chorus between 01/01/2008 and 4/30/2008 must show proof of membership (copy of membership card or authorized application with member ID#) to Joan Machtel at 3341 East Denton Ave. St. Francis, WI 53235, phone 414-438-6775, or e-mail at jmachtel@ameritech.net no later than April 2, 2008.

  • CAL MEMBER ALL EVENT PASSES

    All event passes for CAL members will be automatically distributed if they have paid their $25.00 member all event pass and they are current on their regional assessment.

  • ALL EVENTS PASSES FOR GUESTS AND MAL MEMBERS

    The all event pass order form for non-members (MAL) and guests was included in the first mailing. All-Events passes and Single Event passes for MAL and guests may be ordered by submitting the order form by April 2, 2008. Passes will be available at the Convention Center Ticket Desk one hour prior to each event.

  • CONVENTION PROGRAMS AND ALL EVENT PASSES

    Convention programs will not be sent to members. Programs and member all event passes can be picked up at the Regional Table outside of Harmony Mall. There will not be a registration desk.

  • CHARMS

    Our 2008 charms are polished gold plated, designed by ESCO. (See this .pdf file for a picture of the charm.) The cost is $7.00 each. The due date for charm orders is April 2, 2008. Please mail charm orders to Linda Marzocco. Any charms remaining after orders are filled will be available at the Regional Table outside of Harmony Mall.

    Please note that if you are in need of a wheelchair for the contest weekend you will have to bring your own or arrange for a wheelchair yourself. No wheelchairs will be available at contest weekend.

QUARTET INFORMATION

The RCSC has a current list, obtained from Region 22 choruses and CAL members, of our registered quartets. Quartets registered are receiving this bulletin. We will contact any newly formed quartets as we learn of them. If you have no plans on competing, please notify Carol Pann, CRC, immediately upon your decision. Carol will contact all quartets to verify that they will be competing and coordinate mailings to them. She will be available to answer questions by phone, mail, or e-mail.

Please note that competing quartets MUST stay in the same hotel throughout the contest weekend.

  • QUARTET RECEPTION

    This event will be held in 5A and B in the Regency Suites on Friday, May 12 at 12:00 Noon. 22 Karat Gold will host this event. This club is made up of past regional champion quartet members and they will be a special part of some of our convention activities. A group of non-competing club members will also serve as hostesses for the competing quartets during the quartet contest. The reception is always fun, so please plan to be on time. You will have the opportunity to meet your hostess and have any last minute questions answered. Following the reception is the Quartet Briefing and a walk through of the traffic pattern. Room 6A and B at the Regency Suites will be a singing ready room. Ballrooms A3 and 4 are non-singing ready rooms, are the rooms you will enter stage from. Hostesses will assist the quartets.

  • CD/DVD ORDERS

    Reminder to Contact Person: The CD/DVD Order Form and your check should be sent ahead of time. It is to be mailed to Dawn Banerdt-Adams, Regional Convention Treasurer Every quartet must purchase their CD/DVD Set. Cost is $20.00 and must be paid in advance. Because of stringent copyright laws, only one set may be purchased.

  • QUARTET PHOTOS

    At the present time, because of remodeling in the hotel, quartets will be notified where their pictures will be taken at the Quartet Briefing on Friday. Please know your pose before arriving and have your Photo Form and check payable to Jon Petersen Photography ready to hand in at that time.

  • CRITIQUE AND SCORING SHEETS

    These will be available for pickup one (1) hour following quartet competition in the KI Center near the concession stand by a quartet representative on Friday.

  • WITHDRAWALS

    If your quartet wishes to withdraw from competition after you have sent in your application, you must submit the intent to withdraw in writing to International Headquarters. A phone call is not sufficient.

  • COPYRIGHT OF MUSIC

    Competitors must be sure that the music you are singing for competition is “legal”. If it is not, you will be disqualified. Please check with International if you are unsure about your musical selection.

  • QUARTET MONITORS

    Monitors will be used during the quartet competition. Each quartet will be allowed to sing with the monitors at the quartet briefing on Friday. If you have any questions about the monitors, please contact Linda Marzocco.


CHORUS INFORMATION

  • SIZE OF DIVISION A AND AA CHORUSES

    To be eligible for awards, the following Sweet Adeline International criteria must be met. Division A, or small chorus, may have 15 – 30 competing members on stage. Division AA, or mid-size chorus, may have 31 – 60 competing members on stage.

  • STAGE INFORMATION

    All competitors will be competing on alternate riser configuration (no inverted center section). If you have any questions contact Carol Pann, CRC.

    The stage will be 56’ wide by 28’ deep. There will be 9 sections of 4’, 4 step Wenger risers with back rails. Draping for the back and sides of the stage will be cathedral black. We will have an 8’ x 8’ platform on each side of the stage and ramps on the entrance and exit sides of the stage. We will not be using a curtain. Lights will be slightly dimmed for your entrance and exit. Choruses and quartets will enter stage LEFT and exit stage RIGHT. A diagram of the stage is enclosed.

    Late entries will sing first in the competition. Choruses competing for EVALUATION ONLY will compete following any late entries.

  • CHORUS HOTEL INFORMATION

    Please inform Linda Marzocco, CC, where your chorus will be staying. She will confirm this with the hotels. This will help in scheduling the Saturday rehearsals. If you do not confirm this with her, she will schedule you for Saturday rehearsal at the Regency Suites. Please be considerate and contact her as soon as your reservations are set.

  • CHORUS HOSTESSES

    Each competing chorus will have a chorus hostess from the outgoing championship chorus, the Crosstown Harmony Chorus. Choruses will be contacted prior to competition by their hostess.

  • CHORUS REHEARSALS

    There are no Friday chorus rehearsals scheduled. Any chorus wanting a Friday rehearsal must make their own arrangements. The RCSC will not be providing this service.

    The Region will have a Saturday rehearsal schedule without risers available at both hotels. If you are scheduling your own chorus rehearsal(s) and do not need the Region to schedule a place and time for your chorus, be sure to advise Linda Marzocco by 3/15/08.

    No singing or rehearsing will be allowed in the hallways or practice rooms 1 hour prior to the beginning of the chorus patterns. This applies to ALL HOTELS. Please be considerate of your fellow competitors.

  • COPYRIGHT OF MUSIC

    Competitors must be sure that the music they are singing for competition is "legal". If it is not, you will be disqualified. Please check with International if you are unsure about your musical selection.

  • PRESIDENT/TEAM LEADER/DIRECTOR BRIEFING

    This briefing will be held Friday, immediately following the quartet competition, at approximately 10:30PM in Ballroom A #3 at the Convention Center. Certification of Membership Forms listing each competitor’s name and membership ID number must be turned in at this time. President/Team Leaders please be sure and bring this form with you. Photo Forms and chorus checks made payable to Jon Petersen Photography must be turned in. No changes in your photo order can be made after this form is handed in. Your Final Pose Form is also due at this meeting. A walk through of the traffic pattern will follow this briefing. There will be one singing Ready Room, 6A and B at the Regency Suites. Ballrooms A-3 and A-4 are non-singing Ready Rooms, which are in the Convention Center.

  • CD/DVD ORDERS

  • CHORUS PHOTOS

    Chorus photos will be taken on stage in your final pose at the end of your performance. Please remain in your final pose and wait for the stage lights to dim before releasing your pose. Lights will be turned up for safe exit from the stage. Please have the competed form and a check made payable to Jon Petersen Photography ready to turn in at the President/Team Leader/Director Briefing on Friday evening. Please be careful in choosing your final pose so that faces will not be lost.

  • CRITIQUE AND SCORING SHEETS

    These documents will be available for pick up in the KI Center near the concession stand by the Chorus President/Team Leader/Chorus Manager or Director on Saturday, one hour following the competition.

HARMONY MALL INFORMATION

This year Harmony Mall will be open to all choruses in Region 22. Each chorus that participates would pay a fee of $100.00 and would be allowed to sell most anything, but food. Each chorus would be expected to let the Harmony Mall Chairperson know what they are selling. Harmony Mall will also be open to outside vendors.
