Automate ASR 1.0

11/22/01

(Download - 599K, includes ASR 2.1.2)

Automate ASR is a very advanced replacement to implementation of automatic restorations using Apple Software Restore.  Apple provied a mediocre way to do implementations in ASR 1.x by editing the Standard ASR Preferences file with ResEdit.  Crude and limited, but it worked.  With the advent of ASR 2.x, it is more capable of other methods of restoring, but the old ASR Prefs file won't work with it.  So, now what?  AppleScript to the rescue!

(Download the Scan for ASR scripts - 145K)

Use these scripts to prepare an image for use with ASR.  Apple has these scripts available in the 20MB Installer SDK, but you can get them here at a smaller size, and even with instructions!  What convenience!

(Get Disk Copy 6.3.3 from Apple)

Required to prepare disk images for ASR.  This should be in the Utilities folder on your hard drive, but in case you're missing it or you have an old version, you can get it here.

Donations for Automate ASR are strongly appreciated, and can be made via PayPal here.  If you use Automate ASR in a large deployment environment, please consider a substantial donation (think about how much time you just saved! ;-).

1/25/03

(Download - 159K)

Make the Connection is a suite of 4 scripts to ease connections in OS X to any Telnet, SSH, FTP, or SFTP server via Terminal.  Each script is nearly identical, allowing quick connections as well as a stored address book.  Make the Connection runs only in OS X and is freeware.

Narcolepsy 1.0

4/1/08

(Download - 44K)

Narcolepsy is a script to "encourage" your Mac to sleep when idle.  It's useful if your computer doesn't seem to obey the sleep setting in Energy Saver; Narcolepsy will put your computer to sleep when Energy Saver should!  It will sleep after the amount of time set in Energy Saver, making adjustments easy.  It is also designed to not sleep if iTunes is playing, if DVD Player is open, or if EyeTV is playing or recording (times when the computer might be "idle," but you are still using it).  You can modify the script to remove these or add your own conditions to prevent sleeping.  Narcolepsy runs only in OS X and is freeware.

Donations for Narcolepsy are strongly appreciated, and can be made via PayPal here.

Typeator 1.2

11/26/01

(Download - 52K)

Typeator is an advanced AppleScript used for setting the type and creator codes common to all Macintosh files.  It can set codes based on another file, on codes you type in manually, or on codes stored in any of 9 built-in presets.  It functions both as a double-clickable app or a droplet.

Donations for Typeator are strongly appreciated, and can be made via PayPal here.
