The Cornish Rex
is a slender, elegant, refined cat with lean,
well muscled legs. The body curves upward from the ribs,
forming a tuck-up. Whiskers
are short, curly, and very brittle.
They have a tightly marceled coat which consists of
down hair only ~ no guard hairs
or awn hairs. The feel of the
coat is said to be a mixture of silk and velvet.
They come in all colors, including
colorpoint.
The Cornish are
very people-oriented cats. They like to
participate in all indoor activities with their owners, from
watching TV with them, to playing
in their bathwater!
Cornish Rex retain
their playfulness throughout their lives.
One of their quirks is that they use their paws like little
hands
to pick up items
that catch their interest.
Their coats need
very little care. Just run your hand
down their backs to groom them. They are very clean and
don't need any brushing. They
look very fragile, until you
pick
one up ~ they are heavy, as most of the body
consists of muscle. Females at maturity weigh between
5-7 lbs, with males slightly
more.
The Rex cats (Cornish
and Devon, and sometimes also the
Selkirk Rex) are often confused with one another. We'd
like to introduce you properly
to the Cornish Rex, help
you
to understand the differences, and show you what a
truly unique breed our Cornish really
are!
To that end we
have provided for your exploration
