2007 Northwoods Cruisers Events:

December 11th - Christmas Card Preparation

We will be gathering at Karen Hansen's at 6pm to put together Christmas Cards to send to surprise recipients. Contact Karen if you are interested in participating. We will each be dividing up the number of cards and stamps to buy, so we need to know who/how  many are coming. We will be enjoying snacks, Christmas Cookies and Christmas music as we prepare to send the cards while regaling each other with stories of the past riding season and upcoming plans. It's always a great time getting together for fun stuff like this!

October 6, 2007 - March of Dimes ride, West Bend

August 25th, 2007  Eight ladies gathered to ride together in the Falls Fest Parade in downtown Sheboygan Falls. Some were customers of Ms. Motorcycle, Northwoods Cruisers' Dealer Member and some were from our chapter. The ride was challenging from the heat of the day and the bikes, but the cheers from the crowd as the ladies roared past more than made up for it. Talk about an excellent way to introduce ourselves to the community. Northwoods Cruisers will definitely be involved in future parades.

August 11th, 2007 This date had originally been planned to hold a Bike Wash / Brat Fry at Open Road HD in Fond Du Lac. Due to an over-extended Chapter Director, all the plans could not get into place for this particular event. Since quite a few ladies had marked their calendars for this, we decided to at least get together and take a ride. Jennifer Schoenfeldt, new member Chris Moehrke and new member Chris Erickson all met with Karen Hansen at the Sheboygan Falls Qmart to take a ride along the beautifully canopied twisty roads of the Kettle Moraine. When we arrived at Dundee we all stopped for a break at the Route 67 bar for a soda and some snacks. We found that there are quite a few things we each had in common as we chatted the time away. We talked about several new ideas for events to hold both in the rest of this year and in the next. The creativity that these ladies bring to the chapter is going to be a wonderful asset to the group and we look forward to many exciting things to come!

July 27th-29th, 2007.  Michelle, Angela and Karen enjoyed a nice evening ride down to Monroe on Friday. It was getting to be late so we didn’t get too much of a chance to visit with the other members who had already arrived before heading across the street to Ludlow’s for some long awaited food.

Saturday dawned with amazing weather and 18 ladies rode together through some fantastic back roads into Illinois. Even getting re-routed for a parade didn’t deter us on our way to Savannah Illinois. Our group enjoyed a fabulous lunch at a place called Poopy’s which is a store, restaurant, repair shop, tattoo parlor and campground with a bandstand all for bikers located along the Mississippi on the Great River Road. There were many two-wheel enthusiasts at this riot of an establishment. Following lunch we ladies proceeded to the Iron Horse Saloon in downtown Savannah where we saw antique motorcycles, memorabilia as well as an upstairs biker wedding chapel.  We then proceeded along some more picturesque roads on our way to Galena for a refreshing ice cream stop before heading back to Monroe. The entire group headed over to Ludlow’s for some wonderful food (including a lasagna soup to die for!) where a lot of laughs were had as ladies shared some great stories. Karen also gave a short talk on some tips for group riding. Before setting out for the day, many ladies participated in a bug raffle for Northwoods Cruisers. The object of the raffle was to attach a bull’s eye target somewhere on the bike and see who can get a bug to hit closest to the center dot. The first place winner was Marguerite Clanton from Dairyland Originals with a giant SPLAT that covered a good deal of the whole target. She was the lucky recipient of a Women On Wheels ® bandana. Second place winner was Sue Frish, also from Dairyland Originals, with a not-so-giant-but-still-present bug just next to the center. She was presented with a Women On Wheels ® Keeper. Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all who participated and helped bring in funds that will further our fledgling-but-growing chapter.

Sunday turned out to again be gorgeous weather in which to ride home. Angela, Michelle and Karen stopped for some breakfast shopping at the local Brennan's food mart where they have some very original homemade creations and samples of "chin-drippin'" fruit. Definitely a nice home-town touch. We decided to take some Rustic Roads on the way home to see some more of the area. We got to our first road sign for a picture and as we were going gearing up to get back on our way, one of the bikes wouldn't start. Despite our best mechanical attempts, there was just no coaxing the bike to get back on the road. We were fortunate enough to be by the house of a very nice retired couple who agreed to let us leave the bike until it could be arranged to be brought back home. We got very creative in re-packing luggage and ladies as we got back on the road. Support Member Bob was nice enough to get out of bed and meet us in Sun Prairie to help with the loads. We had fun riding together back to Fond Du Lac and overall the trip was very enjoyable.  All are looking forward to several more events as great as this!

July 1st, 2007. Angela, Michelle, Jennifer and Karen got together at the B&B Express on Hwy 23 near St. Cloud (Map to meeting point) and took a ride around on several county roads that were lettered. Karen had put together the route, so she led - even though she was without a speedometer because it had been broken when she got new tires put on the bike. Boy is it tricky to guess your speed when you are out front! We also don't know how many miles the ride was because the speedometer also controls the odometer. Ah well, sometimes it's fun just to be out there with two wheels and the road. Karen only got us lost twice and had to turn us around once. We were able to get several pictures of the girls by the road signs taking turns with the camera. Afterwards we all stopped for a soda together back at the B&B for some fun and laughter at the days' bloopers. It takes a special group of ladies to have so much fun together!

June 23rd, 2007. Five Northwoods Cruisers members rode beautiful roads to Wild Rose WI where we were met by more than 30 members, support members and guests from around the state. Our group was so large that we had to split up between two restaurants, the Vintage Garden Cafe and the Pioneer Pub. All involved enjoyed great food, great company and great weather. The Northwoods Cruisers played a new riding game to generate funds for our expenses. A Bull's eye target was purchased by riders for $1 per target and placed on the front of our bikes with the object of the game being to have the target with the closest bug to the center of the bull's eye. A winner will be selected and announced in the near future. The Alphabet Scramble game was also introduced to the Northwoods Cruisers members in addition to the other chapters. Several forms were purchased for participation which will result in some good funds to be raised for the chapter to cover expenses and purchase advertising space to get the word out about organization. Member Michelle grew up around the Wild Rose area and led a group back to Fond Du Lac through some beautifully scenic back country roads which made for a great afternoon ride in some wonderful weather.

June 2nd, 2007. New members Michelle Doro and Angela Graham were met by Karen Hansen in Fond Du Lac and rode to the Mr. Soup event. Fortunately we made it just as the rain started coming down. Many interesting individuals come from all different places to get this wonderful soup. This year featured 4 different kinds, all were delicious! There was also soda, water and beer as well as brats and burgers for every appetite. Mr. Soup opens his home every year just because he loves to cook and have friends over. About 20 members and support members from Dairyland Originals arrived shortly after who had not been as lucky to avoid the rain. After some great food and meeting some interesting people, some members headed over to Open Road Harley Davidson for their first annual Summer Bash featuring Vic Ferrari and Jesse Jurrens. More fun was had with other motorcycle riders while we danced to the music under the tent. Can't wait to get together and have more good times such as these! Be sure to check out the Club Pics page for some great shots of the fun.

May 20th, 2007. Gotta love the weather in Wisconsin. The thermostat read 42 degrees with a 17 mph wind chill of 36 degrees. Better judgment prevailed and it was decided to call off this particular ride. Our next event is only two weeks away, so we will be getting together again soon!

April 15th, 2007. Sue Frish and Bert Magnuson from Dairyland Originals met with members Jennifer Schoenfeldt and Karen Hansen for lunch at Fudgienuckles in Glenbuelah. Karen was able to bring the bike with it being somewhat nice outside and not too far which was nice. Some great conversation was had with a lot of laughing as well as learning of some exciting things coming of the chapter as the riding season begins to get underway. Unfortunately a miscommunication caused us to miss meeting with a prospective member, so we hope to catch her next time. As Sue, Bert and Jennifer were about to leave another prospective member joined for lunch. Leasa LeFebre and her husband Jim rode in from Fond Du Lac and we hope to be welcoming them aboard in the near future.

March 18th, 2007. Karen Hansen and prospective new member Chris Erickson met at Brisco County Grille along  beautiful Lake Michigan for a great lunch with some wonderful conversation about the exciting things coming up with Northwoods Cruisers. Chris is excited to meet more ladies interested in the same things - riding, so this may be just the place for her. I'm hoping to welcome her aboard soon!

January 28th, 2007. Karen Hansen and new member Jennifer Schoenfeldt of Northwoods Cruisers were met by Sue Frish and Donna Schoenfeldt of Dairyland Originals. It was sure good to talk about our favorite subject - motorcycles, although it sure left us longing for sunshiney days. We enjoyed some great food and talked about some ideas for activities for this coming year. We'll continue to develop these ideas and post them on the website to let others know. The next lunch is February 25th, we look forward to seeing more members and having more great times!
