Athens to Long Point, Lake Hartwell:

Take GA-72 through Hull and Colbert.
Shortly after leaving Colbert, turn left on to GA-172.
Follow GA-172 through Bowman into Hartwell.
Turn right on the main street, following US-29.
In several miles, turn left at light on to Ridge Road (old 29).  There is a shopping center on the right hand side at the light.
Long Point Recreation Area is in about 5 miles.

It is also possible to take US-29 from Athens to Hartwell.
