Orange wood is the traditional wood used in the past for medical instruments. It is very hard, dense and almost lacking in distinction between early and late wood in its grain. Orange wood is seldom seen for sale even from specialty suppliers. I have a small supply and think it best suited for inlay and trim, or for wear strips on drawer runners. Unfortunately the wood does not have a citrus scent.
