Woodcarver's Tree at 2007 Festival of Trees - Celebration of Giving
November 20-25, 2007 - Mayo Civic Center Exhibit Hall, Rochester, MN
This year's theme was called "Seasons on the Farm".
An update from Laurie Reed:
Well, woodcarvers and wood turners. Our tree sold on the live auction for
$6000.00 to a lady in Kasson who knows Wayne Hendrickson. A huge and special
thanks to everyone who donated over 200 ornaments for the tree, and all
the items that surrounded the beautiful red Barn on the base. The tree
was spectacular for anyone who didn't make it down to the civic center
to see it.
I wish I could express the excitement that everyone involved in Hiawatha
and the Festival showed to us when they saw the tree. It was also the anticipation
of how much is this tree going to go for. Everyone who helped set up the
tree even went as far as guessing what it might fetch. We were all wrong,
but we were close.
I owe an incredible thanks to the committee for all their time and efforts
to this worthy cause. LaVerne Schettl, Dennis Tooley, Robt Ricks, Karen
Reilly, and Delphine Nelson. I also give a big Thanks to all who helped
on Monday to set up the tree. This takes time, like all morning to get
things set up. Delphine Nelson, LaVerne Schettl,Louise Forbes,Gary Kolb,
Gary Berg, Jim Walts,Vonnie Weeldryer, Mike Snyder, and Orlando Thorsen.
I surely could have not done it without you...
