CARVING Magazine - Tips & Techniques
with Chris Whillock

Over the past 5 years, Carving Magazine has published a wealth of information for woodcarvers. Chris Whillock will be here to share a variety of tips and techniques from past issues. Bring your notebook and pencil. Chris will also have back issues of the magazine available for purchase at $5 each.

Chris Whillock (Faribault, MN) has been involved in his family woodcarving business for over 30 years. He currently is co-owner of a woodcarving tool & supply business called WoodcarversWarehouse.com <http://woodcarverswarehouse.com/> based in Owatonna, MN. He has taught woodcarving classes throughout the US and has recently been named Editor of Carving Magazine (a National Woodcarving Publication). Chris is the son of nationally known carver and author Ivan Whillock.

Thanks, Chris, for stepping up on this short notice!

Don’t forget! Mark your calendar! Be there!

2008 Rochester Woodcarvers 32nd Annual Show
March 29-30, 2008
10:00am - 4:00pm each day
Free admission
Olmsted County Fairgrounds - 4H Building

All display tables are taken, but if you don’t have one, come out anyway and volunteer for a couple of hours at one of our venues -- like the raffle table or blank sales. Submit your best carving of 2007/2008 for the People’s Choice award.

Please consider assisting Nancy Borson with the Hands-On Learning Table that Randy has developed over the last two shows. It’s been a hit, a favorite with some guests, and it can spark new carvers to take up the hobby. All you need to know is how to hold a gouge and knife, and how to make the basic strokes -- and if you don’t know, it’s a great way to learn how! Nancy will have a sign-up sheet at the Saturday meeting, so come prepared to sign up for a couple of hours.
