1. Broad River Outpost is about 100 yards downriver from GA 281 bridge.

2. Fish weir, downriver right, at very low water level (about 1.2 feet on USGS Carlton, GA, gauge).

3. Flat Shoals, second drop, at about 1.2 feet on USGS Carlton, GA, gauge.

4. Scarborough Shoals at about 1.2 feet on USGS Carlton, GA, gauge.

5. Three transcontinental pipelines pass under the river here.

6. Brown Shoals is divided by a small forested island, not seen, and to the right of the photo.  The steepest drops shown in the photo are downriver right and are adjacent to the downriver end of the island.  In the photo below, the water level was about 4.0 feet on the USGS gauge at Carlton, GA.

 

 

 

7. Compton Shoals at about 1.2 feet on USGS Carlton, GA, gauge.  At average level (about 3.0 feet) the rocks seen at center-right would be under water.

 

 

8. GA 172 bridge. The Broad River Outpost's take-out for this section is about a half-mile below the bridge.
