This town is really where SHAPE headquarters is located (about 40 miles south of Brussels, and about 3 miles from the French border). There are hotels in and around SHAPE that cater to the American and are relatively inexpensive. *You know what country in the world drinks more beer than any other? Germany? Nope - Belgium! Belgium is a "dry" country but boy does the beer flow! I tended bar in Paris part time before moving to Belgium, but because of the heavy work load in Belgium, did not plan to continue. The Club manager called and pleaded for me to work just a short time. Why? Belgians didn't know the difference between a martini and a manhattan! So for 6 weeks I conducted classes for the would-be local bartenders on the skillful art of making and serving various bar drinks! Wouldn't have missed this for the world!
