Davidbanddav.jpg (37631 bytes)Rehearsing for Upcoming Festival - maybe not as good as the marches you are listing to, but they are loud and it's nice to see young people enjoying themselves!

Arrived at David around 1500 hours after a 5-hour bus ride from Panama City. I checked out a couple hotels and finally settled on the "International" for one night until I could locate "my kind" of hotel the next day. The International is a 5 star hotel, lots of marble, fancy outdoor dining facility, bar and Casino. The cost for this hotel was $44.00 per night. The next day located the "Hotel Suites El Gran Moise' Apartado 64 David, Chiriqui, Rep. De Panama'. Hotel is located again in the Center of David. Cost was $25.00 per day. Another Hotel, the "Occidental" was nearby with comparable prices.

David is the 3d largest city in Panama located about 75 kilometers from the Costa Rican border. The environment here is completely different from Panama City. Where in Panama City there is a large mix of races, David has mostly Caucasian, a few Indians and blacks, but mostly Caucasian. Shopping along the "main" street was somewhat like Panama City, but vehicle traffic was allowed. One store I haven't seen in the States for many years!

The "five and dime" and when have you seen Lucky Strike's advertised??

Found a great eating facility - Churrasco's Palace - outside dining, good food, inexpensive. This facility is located at Ave 2 cla. Este. There are many other dining facilities offering a variety of foods. All are very inexpensive, albeit not as cheap as in Panama City. The presence of McDonalds and Kentucky Fried Chicken was also apparent.

From David, I took two one-day side trips via bus. To Armuelles and to Cerro Punta.

After 5 days I left David and surrounding areas for the Frontier and on to Costa Rica.
