Honduras
I haven't visited Honduran since 1999. Any info on standby flying into Honduras would be appreciated!
An extremely poor country in Central America with a northern border on the Caribbean, a north west border with Guatemala, a south western border with El Salvador and the Pacific Ocean, and a south eastern border with Nicaragua, where the people are extremely friendly, prices extremely low, with a temperate climate year round.
**To get there, go from Charleston Air Force Base, South Carolina, or the International airport at Charleston. There are C17s going straight to Soto Cato or possibly through Howard Air Force Base, Panama, or from the International Air Port on a "Freedom Bird" 757* into Howard and on to Honduras. The international flights may go thru Atlanta and if it is convenient you can try boarding there. Check with the International Airport, Charleston, for particulars.
I was able to get a seat on a C17 going directly to Honduras - flight time about 4
hours 40 minutes. Upon boarding the aircraft this
site greeted me
(We'll never get off the
ground!).
*This trip took placed in December 1996. I returned to Panama and Costa Rica (check these links) in October, November 1997. *The 757 aircraft had been replaced with the smaller 727.
NOTE!! Have not visited Honduras since "Mitch". and the return of Panama to Panamanians. Support for Retirees at present unknown! 1 Mar 2K1.
