"The Idiot Box" was a short-lived MTV sketch comedy series written, directed and starring Tom and Alex. It debuted in 1991 and only lasted 6 episodes which were aired in heavy rotation. Each show began with Alex introducing it followed by music videos, fake commercials, comedy bits, a recap by VOTAR- The Future of Television Announcing, and then finally an outro by Alex.

• Some reoccurring characters on the show were:

• Lockjaw (a cop with the aforementioned affliction)
• Eddie The Flying Gimp From Outer Space(self-explanatory)
• The Huggins Family (a lovey, yet dysfunctional family)
• Willard Shrek (a convenience store clerk/ talk show host)
• The Burrowing Bishop (an unlikely super-hero)
