FACT OR FICTION?
FACT: "Peter Brown, Mayflower
passenger" and "Peter Brown of Windsor, CT" are
NOT the same person.
"Peter Brown, Mayflower passenger" died
at Plymouth, between 25
March and 10 October, 1633.
"Peter Brown of Windsor"
died 9 March 1692 in Windsor, CT.
POSSIBLE, BUT NOT PROVEN: "The History of Ancient Windsor" by Henry R. Stiles, says that Isabel Brown, wife of Anthony Hoskins, is the SISTER of "Peter Brown of Windsor". He cites the Old Church Records as his source. It's possible and if you look at the BROWN, HOSKINS and GILLETT family connections in Windsor, Conn., you can see how closely linked they are. "The History of Ancient Windsor" is often disregarded because many citations have been disproven, so if that were the only source stating that Isabel BROWN and Peter BROWN of Windsor were brother and sister, one might want to question it, but there are numerous sources that support Stiles' claim.
If the families lived in the same town and were that closely connected, it isn't hard to trust the sources that claim Isabel and Peter BROWN were brother and sister, so probably Henry R. Stiles was right. If anyone has PROOF that Stiles was wrong, please let me know. HOWEVER, there are other sources that also claim Isabel and Peter are brother & sister. [See below]
DEFINITELY WRONG:
Some sources have claimed that "Peter Brown of Windsor" [b.
1632] and Isabel Brown were the children of "Peter Brown, Mayflower
passenger". According to Mayflower Descendants, "Peter Brown of
Windsor", was not a son of "Peter Brown, Mayflower passenger".

So who were Isabel Brown's parents?
The parents of Isabel Brown are disputed and unproven.
Some sources say that Isabel was the daughter of "Peter Brown, Mayflower passenger". The Hoskins Genealogy says that she was the daughter of Peter Browne by his second wife - WRONG.
This is the family of "Peter Brown, Mayflower
passenger" as accepted by the Mayflower Society. Since his only unnamed
child died young, then this child could NOT have been Isabel
Brown who
married Anthony Hoskins. He also did not have any sons, so Peter Brown of
Windsor could NOT have been his son.
