Creating an IRC bot

First off get the appropriate bot from one of the xdcc bots currently on my irc chat site. You must gain permission to have a bot on my server so please ask so I don't have to kick you. Once you have the program downloaded install it right away and then start up the program using the desktop icon. In here you can configure anything you understand COMPLETELY! If you do not configure the bot correctly you may mess up the bot or cause problems in the chatroom. The following are instructions for setting up a bot properly for use on my server.
 
First you need to change the bots Nickname and your Full Name which are highlighted below:
 

 
Second click on the connections tab and then find the add server button. From here add my server following the instructions given to you in the #bot channel. Make sure to enter the correct information as this is how the bot finds the server. These steps are detailed here:
 

 
Third you need to find the channels tab. Now you need to enter the channel you were given permission to use a bot in. This area is highlighted below. Once you have entered the name of the channel hit add and you should be ready to go.
 

 
Take a look at all the other options to see if anything conflicts with your system or network setup. From here just click on the connect icon to the far left on the toolbar. If it works that is amazing, however it most likely will not work the first time. Please try and figure out any problems by yourself as the Ops have much better things to do than fix your problems but if you need help and have taken at least a half hour to figure out the problem then you may ask the person who gave you permission to have the bot.
