Why ? - When I see something interesting I take a picture.... about 5% actually look okay when they are developed. Most of my pictures have been based on serendipity and being in the right place at the right time ! Ironically, caves have produced the best pictures because the light is controlled for the most part. All of the "above ground" pictures were taken with a 35-80mm Pentax P45 SLR with a UV filter.
