U16 - West Coast Championships
The Mass Frenzy U16 team finished 4th out of 82 teams at the West Coast Championships in San Diego, California a NCAA Certified player evaluation event. The team finished the event with a 5-1 record, its only loss a 5 point loss in the opening game to the North Bay Elite. After the opening loss, the Frenzy went on to win the next 5 games straight with wins over teams from Washington, California, Colorado, and Oregon.
The final game for the fourth place championship was an exciting 55-52 overtime win over Silverado Basketball of California. The Frenzy fought back from a double-digit deficit with under 5 minutes to play to pull out the victory. An impressive way to end the spring/summer season at a high level national tournament.

2010 NE Elite College Showcase
The 2009 Fall AAU season for the Mass Frenzy team's got into full swing at the Northeast Elite College Showcase at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island. This event is annually attended by almost every Division II and III college program in the northeast, and this year was no exception.
Facing some of the top teams in the region, the Mass Frenzy teams made a very strong showing with both the U15 and U16 teams finishing with identical 3-1 records.
The U15 team played exceptionally well , with the only loss coming on a buzzer-beating shot by the CT Starters. In game 1 the Frenzy handled the Bay State Magic Elite team 42-35. Scoring was led by Nicole DeMarchena with 10 points. The win was a total team effort with every player contributing to the scoring total.
Game 2 was a heartbreaking loss at the buzzer to the CT Starters. The final shot was a prayer thrown in off a deflected pass, but the team played great despite the loss. Nicole DeMarchena once again led scoring with 11 points followed closely by Kristen Ferola with 9 points. Tara Dooley and Kristin Calvo ran the point exceptionally well against a very tough defensive team
The third game had the team playing the always tough Albany Capitals team. Despite early foul trouble the 15's put on a dominant performance against the perennial powerhouse with a 70-45 win. Kristen Ferola led all scorers with 23 points. New team member Alexis Chappell chipped in 12 points, and Sarah Whitestone and Lauren Halla both added 10 points.
In the tournament finale the Frenzy (with only 6 players) faced the Exeter Hawks who were coming off a 4th place finish at the DII AAU Nationals in Orlando, FL. After falling behind 16-10, the team ran off on a 24-2 run to end the 1st half and cruised to an impressive 63-36 win. Scoring was evenly divided with Ferola (16 points), Chappell (12 points), Whitestone (12 points), and Dooloey (10 points) all in double-figures.
The U16 team had just as impressive a weekend. In game 1 the team easily handled the Exodus Providence team 59-44. Kait Veit led all scorers with 13 points. Justine King chipped in 10 points as well.
Game 2 had the Frenzy facing the NH Rivals. The Frenzy dominated the entire game on the way to a 57-32 win. Katie Eckert led all scorers with 14 points, and Mariah Lesure added 9 points. Catie Brighenti and Kiley Cleveland from Athol both had solid games for the Frenzy.
In the third game the Frenzy faced our old rivals the Mass Premier (Bliss) team. The U16's played great defense on the way to a convincing 51=30 win. Eckert & Veit once again led the way with 15 and 14 points respectively. Jenna Klaes, Abeni Davies, and Katrina Caulfield all made solid contributions on both ends of the floor in the win.
In the tournament final the Frenzy faced the CT Premier who boast a point guard who is ranked by ESPN as the 37th best prospect in the country. Jenna Klaes did an outstanding job defending her, holding her to only 9 points for the game. However, a second half shooting drought caused the Frenzy to fall 49-39.
The tournament was a great success for both teams and will lead well into our two remaining fall events.

Frenzy High School Player News
We want to congratulate our three players who reached the 1,000 point mark this high school season. Taylor Desanty (Drury) was the first player to reach the 1,000 point mark. She has since gone on to eclipse her high school's all-time scoring record as she has led her team into the upcoming MIAA tournament.
Mary Kovacevic (Mahar) reached the milestone shortly after Taylor in a game on February 12th while also leading her team to a victory over the previously undefeated Mohawk Trail High School.
And finally, Catie Brighenti (Athol) reached the scoring plateau in a victory against Easthampton on February 16th. Catie reached this remarkable level in just her junior season.
The Frenzy family is so proud of these three players and all they have accomplished in there careers.
