Well, the update for Bibliography Tracker is out.
Current version is 0.2 Beta.
There are a series of added features:
-The ability to create custom topics that you can stick entries under
-The ability to sort entries by title or topic
-Authors can now be sorted as well, though not by last name
-An addition of a Topic Manager to manage the addition and removal of topics
-File format still backward compatible, so no need to worry about losing your data when upgrading....(I hope)
I was lazy about building a full install, so I only zipped the primary EXE file, which is smaller than the 4.3MB install file. Where the other 3MB or so came from, I have no clue, seeing the whole application is no more than 1MB.
Just unzip the EXE file and replace the old one with this new one and things should work.
Please backup your old data manually before starting the new version, just in case. Just copy the "Data" and "Summary" folder somewhere safe, and you should be fine.
The main program should be under C:\Program Files\Bibliography Tracker\.

Yes, its been dang long since I updated or wrote something in my blog. It's pretty much dead, but I just wanted to be lazy and use this space to post an application I wrote that can hopefully be useful to others.
Bibliography Tracker
- Q: So, what is it?
- A: Its a nifty little program that a grad student can use to keep track of all the papers, books, and journals they've read. It records the title, all the authors, and you can tag on a brief summary of the paper. Then the program will let you cross reference to see which author wrote what papers, etc. Just an organization tool in general.
- Q: Is it easy to use?
- A: I don't know. You tell me.
- Q: Why did you write this?
- A: Because I needed it. I'm very bad with remember which author wrote what, and so forth. This is a tool to save me some memory.
- Q: Will there be upgrades?
- A: Yes, since currently it doesn't have a search feature, which would be great.
- Q: Are there any bugs?
- A: Maybe, but hopefully not. It does lack the ability to delete entries once you add them.
- Q: Where can I download it?
- A: Right HERE.
- Q: Where can I send for help?
- A: E-mail me at ser-geon(at)charter.net with the topic "BiblioTracker HELP!" and I may respond.
- Q: Can I request for features?
- A: Yes and No. I have some future feature updates in mind, but am open to suggestion.
- Q: Does this use a database?
- A: Nope, its plain text with no databases attached.
- Q: Why not use a database?
- A: Because I'm lazy and don't want to look up how.
- Q: Why are you still reading? Go Install the dang thing!!
