The ability to write well reflects the innate ability
to tell a story.
And just as there are many different types of writing,
there are many different kinds of stories.
A press release is not a news piece, no matter how hard a marketing department may hope that's so. An editorial column is not a feature though sometimes, especially when the latter is done poorly, it can be hard to tell the difference. Different kinds of writing require attention to different types of details ... different types of story-telling skills. |

October, 2004: The Problem of Fuel Prices A monthly "trade" publication and professional resource for editors, writers, journalists and other communications professionals.
Throughout various changes in other roles and responsibilities for corporate communications at American Airlines, Doherty has remained a regular contributor to the employee newspaper, writing both news and features.
