Dallas Stars Name Feral Friends September 26 "Charity of the Game" Hockey Team Shoots, Scores for Local Felines

When the Dallas Stars face off with their exhibition opponent on Thursday, September 26, the Florida Panthers won't be on the ice. The all-time NHL leader in penalty minutes, Dave "Tiger" Williams, isn't likely to be there. And Los Angeles Kings goaltender Felix "The Cat" Potvin won't be anywhere near the arena. Nevertheless, the evening will be all about hockey ... and cats. The Stars have designated Feral Friends, a Dallas-based organization dedicated to the rescue of abandoned, unwanted and abused cats, as that night's "Charity of the Game." The puck drops in the American Airlines Center at 7:30 against the Washington Capitals. Feral Friends volunteers will be available before and during the game, distributing information and answering questions, while the Stars have donated an authentic team-autographed hockey stick to be raffled off during the game. Raffle tickets will be available from Feral Friends volunteers, with proceeds to be used to fund ongoing adoption and rescue efforts, as well as The Race to Reduce Litters, an innovative new spay/neuter program for feral cats. Feral Friends is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization, staffed and managed entirely by volunteers. Feral Friends relies solely on the generosity of concerned citizens and outstanding community organizations like the Dallas Stars.
