Minutes of Emergency Board Meeting

March 7, 2001
6:45pm

Present: Gail, Ives, Darlene, Tory, Len, Robert and Carol.

Darlene opened the Meeting with the Serenity Prayer.

Old Business:

Deferred to regular meeting.

New Business:

  1. The possibility of upstairs lease of 2,400 sq. ft. DISCUSSION: Village Group to rent space??? The Alano Club is committed to Five Cities Group and the meetings that are presently in this location, we could not accommodate another group/meeting at the same times due to parking issues. A merger of groups is not feasible at this facility due to 25 person limit at meeting times. The Steering Committee at the Village (Henry T., Bruce and Anton) stated the Village have been given a 30 day notice to vacate their hall.

The only offer we can make Village Group members is they are welcome at this time at our current meetings.

In the future, as we have a 45 day window to make a decision. If we are able to lease the upstairs we will consider specialty meetings: Alanon, Spanish speaking, Asian and Gay groups, also Alateen.

If this upstairs is accepted to lease in the next 45 days, possible cost is $2,000 a month.... this could involve the Alano Club CD.

The basement is good for storage only.

Pluses on upstairs: Sunroom, smoking meeting?, stairway to parking. Lights in parking lot are needed.

  2. New carpet is in and it looks great, thanks Len for your assistance and hard work.

  3. A brochure: Why the Alano Club? is in the works, will incorporate our mission statement.

  4. Possible lease option to buy $600,000.

  5. A Letter of Intent was sent dated 3/5/01 by Robert and Darlene to the effect that contingent upon parking, inspection of property and Board of Directors complete approval we would like upstairs.

  6. At the time of this meeting only discussion took place, no vote or motions were voted on involving the upstairs (2,400 sq. feet).

  7. Darlene to talk to Village Group welcoming them to Alano Club and current meetings.

  8. The Strawberry Festival reservation for a booth has been made and paid. Discussion will follow as to type of beverage and food will be served.

  9. It was also spproved that the Thursday Night Women's Meeting may have children in the Club with adult supervision. The responsible adult must understand the Club is not child proof and take full responsibility. No charge for this use of the club.
Respectfully Submitted,

Tory Sherwood, Sec.
