A brief history of Samoan Fire Sword

wildfire entertainment

The Samoan Fire Sword is a relatively contemporary fire art. The art began in 1946 with a towel wrapped over a sword, dipped in white gas. It was invented by Freddie Letult while performing in a cultural festival in San Francisco California. This art, surprisingly, spread quickly throughout Samoa, inspiring traditions as it went. It is a lesser known art; however, there is a yearly competition: The American Samoa World Fireknife Competition. This art is gaining attention worldwide, and has been featured in several movies.

If you have more information about this art or others, feel free to contact me and I will add it to this site.
