"Old Pacific" Enters Nevada
View from the original Kingsbury Grade east of Lake Tahoe taken in 2003. This was the main wagon route for teamsters supplying the Comstock Lode in Virginia City from the 1860's until supplanted by the railroad in the 1880's. By 1903 it was little used. It was paved in the 1930's for autos and then bypassed with the current Kingsbury grade in 1974.
